A single-herb liquid extract of dried flower of Styphnolobium japonicum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Huai hua mi is the unopened flower bud of the pagoda tree, picked in early summer while the buds are still small yellow-green rods and the panicle has not begun to open. Bud and open flower are separate articles, and the bud is worth more. The buds are exceptionally rich in rutin, and this tree is the main industrial source of it worldwide. Despite the old name Japanese pagoda tree, the species is Chinese; the great specimens are temple and palace trees in Beijing, some of them centuries old.

Glycerite: Styphnolobium japonicum dried flower, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. It may add to the effect of anticoagulant medicines.
